Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System Review: A Comprehensive Guide for New Parents

Safety and Sturdiness: 9/10

As a parent, there’s nothing more crucial than safety. The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System doesn’t disappoint. The stroller is designed with a sturdy aluminum frame and it doesn’t tip over easily, even when loaded with all the baby essentials.

The soft-ride wheels are made from polyurethane foam and have rear shock absorbers and ball bearings, which provide a smooth ride over various terrains. The front wheels of the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System stroller lock for stability with an easy-to-access knob on side of the stroller. Plus, the rear wheels have an easy-to-use foot brake, although it sadly isn’t the flip-flop friendly version.

We love that the included Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido Infant Car Seat comes with an anti-rebound bar and side-impact protection, making it one of the safest car seats available. We love how much the car seat handlebar adjusts both forward and backward, and even acts as a stopper when the seat is on the ground, preventing any movement or rocking when removing or buckling in your little one.

The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System Primo Viaggio car seat has expanded Poly Styrene foam in the shell and head panel which protects your child’s head and torso. The included base has a patented Right Tight System, which easily locks in vehicle seat belts. The car seat can also be installed without the base by using the color-coded belt routing path and the handle as an anti-rebound bar.

Another feature of the car seat that we love is the pagoda hood on the stroller, since it includes a mesh peek-a-boo window for increased airflow and visibility, and both canopies (stroller and car seat) offer UPF 50+ sun protection for your little one.

Ease of Use: 8/10

Navigating this stroller is not as intuitive as some others, with the fold release being under the seat and the front wheel swivel-lock being a knob on one side, but once you know where they are, they are very easy to use! Plus, we love the one-handed folding mechanism!

Reversing the seat is extremely easy, and even attaching and removing the car seat is simple. The car seat adapters also include locking flaps to prevent undesired removal.

The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System stroller folds compactly, and Ypsi is our favorite folded stroller with the seat still attached — since many of the competitors have quite a large fold when the seat is still attached. For an even smaller fold, the seat and wheels can be easily removed.

Another favorite feature of ours is that the Ypsi stroller stands when folded and even includes a handle for easy carrying. The handlebar does rest on the ground, but there is extra rubber just for that purpose.

Lastly, all the fabric, both from the car seat and the stroller (including the undercarriage storage) can easily be removed for cleaning.

Durability and Quality: 10/10

The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System feels like it could withstand a mini-tornado. The high-quality materials used on both the stroller and car seat ensure that this travel system will last you through multiple children (if that’s your plan!).

The fabric on the seats is soft, cushiony, and yet feels very durable. The large under-storage area has some of the best fabric with reinforcing we have seen on any stroller we have tested! So far in our use, we haven’t had a scratch appear on the frame of the stroller or the plastic of the car seat!

Comfort: 9/10

Imagine floating on a cloud—yep, that’s how comfy the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System is for your baby! The stroller’s seat is well-padded and includes shoulder straps with shoulder pads, which can be rethreaded to 3 different heights. The 5-point harness has two side clips and includes a crotch pad, but sadly it isn’t removable.

The stroller seat can easily adjust to one of three reclining positions with a handle at the back of the seat, and it reclines so smoothly your little one stays asleep. Also, for parent comfort and height flexibility, the handlebar can adjust telescopically to 4 different positions.

The Primo Viaggio car seat has an ergonomic design to keep your baby cozy during long strolls and car rides. It includes a removable dual-stage cushion system infant insert made of breathable Fresco Jersey material which supports a newborn’s head and neck.

Weight and Bulkiness: 8/10

While it’s not feather-light, the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System is manageable. It’s slightly heavier than some competitors, with the stroller weighing 22.6 lbs and the car seat weighing 9.5 lbs. The stroller itself easily folds down and fits in my trunk with the folded dimensions of 20″ x 32.25″ x 15.25″ and unfolded dimensions of 20″ x 39.25″ x 40.25″.

Flexibility: 10/10

The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System includes the Ypsi reversible stroller seat, allowing your baby to face you or the world. This toddler seat can be transformed into forward or rear-facing by pushing two side buttons, turning the seat around, and then clipping it in. Plus, the seat itself supports up to 50 lbs and can be folded right along with the stroller.

The Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System can be a single or double stroller, with the Ypsi Double Adapters and Companion Seat both sold separately. It also can support a bassinet that is approved for sleep or a ride-on board with the Peg Perego Ride with Me Board.

The Peg Perego Primo Viaggio car seat can support a baby as small as 4 lbs or as large as 35 lbs, and up to 32 inches tall. It has removable infant inserts to support your little one through a variety of growth stages.

Design: 10/10

We love the design of the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System! It is definitely a head-turner, with its sleek lines and stylish fabrics, you’ll be the envy of the playground. From the comfortable, adjustable handlebar to the easy-to-access, oversized storage basket, the usability of the design is excellent.

The stroller design itself provides a large variety of features we love! It has a sturdy frame and materials that are soft yet durable. The UPF 50+ canopy has a mesh peek-a-boo window as well as an extendable zipper panel. The footrest can pop out, allowing you to adjust the angle. The seat itself is reversible and easily reclines. The leatherette bumper bar can be clipped from either side and moved out of the way, or removed altogether.

We not only love the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio car seat because it is incredibly safe, but we also love the design and usability of both the base and the seat itself. I especially love how easy it is to adjust the strap height and that the back is covered and doesn’t expose the underside of the seat.

Quality comes at a price, and the Peg Perego Ypsi Travel System is an investment in both safety and quality. Considering all of its features and flexibility, we feel it’s worth every penny.
